KEY MESSAGES FOR THE FIFTH MEETING OF THE BOARD OF THE FUND FOR RESPONDING TO LOSS AND DAMAGE

The fifth meeting of the Board (B5) of the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD) will take place between the 8th and 10th of April, in Bridgetown in Barbados  (the documents will be found here and the webcast  here). The provisional agenda (rev.1) includes important issues including but not limited to:

  • Status of resources
  • Establishing the Budget committee of the Board and agreeing upon the administrative budget of the Secretariat, Interim Trustee and Board.
  • Proposal for the start-up phase of the Fund in line with decision B.4/D.31.
  • Co-Chair’s proposal: Guidance from the twenty-ninth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the sixth session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement.
  • Guidelines for the participation of Advisers in meetings of the Board and meetings of committees.
  • Dialogue with civil society.

The following key messages, which will continue to be updated, respond to agenda items 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, building upon and/or situating recommendations from the L&DC’s membership and work to date on the FRLD.
