At COP29, which is taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from the 11th to 22nd of November, 2024, alongside the World Leaders Climate Action Summit on the 12th of November, the COP29 Presidency will host the event From “Pledges to Action: Full Operationalization of the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage” from 16.30 – 17.00 in Meeting Room 24, in the blue zone. During this event the COP29 Presidency will invite the countries who have already made pledges to the Fund to sign contributor agreements with the World Bank to turn their pledges into funding and to confirm their pledges. This is important, as these pledges (promises) must be paid into the Fund so that it can get to work. The COP29 Presidency also highlights that the event will provide an ample opportunity for Parties to make further pledges to the Fund.

In anticipation of new pledges being made for Loss and Damage during this event and throughout COP29, this document has been set up to track who is making pledges, how much money has been pledged, and will take note of any conditionalities or further details on these pledges. The document will also track which pledges have been converted into contributions and will gather reactions on these new pledges.
