The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP 29), 6th Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA 6), and the sixty first session of the Subsidiary Bodies of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from the 11th to 22nd of  November, 2024. Key items on the agenda of COP 29, CMA 6, SBI 61 and SBSTA 61 relevant to Loss and Damage include:

• The New Collective Quantified Goal on climate finance (NCQG), under CMA 6 agenda item 11(a);
• The 2024 review of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage (WIM), under SBSTA 61 agenda item 6(b); SBI 61 agenda item 13(b); COP 29 agenda item 7; and CMA 6 agenda item 10.
• The launch of the Annual High-Level Dialogue on complementarity and coherence co-convened by the Fund for responding to Loss and Damage and the United Nations Secretary-General (High-Level Dialogue);
• The report of the Fund for responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD) to the COP / CMA, under CMA 6 agenda item 11 (b) and COP 29 agenda item 8 (e); and;
• The joint annual report of the Santiago Network for Loss and Damage and the  Executive Committee (ExCom) the WIM to the COP / CMA, under SBSTA 61 agenda item 6(a) and SBI 61 agenda item 13(a).

For each of the agenda items above this brief provides a short overview of what will be discussed and what is at stake at COP 29, before providing key messages relevant to the delivery of a high ambition outcome. Where possible, we also provide links to resources where further contextualising information and/or detailed arguments in support of the messages can be found.
