The twenty-first meeting (ExCom 21) of the Executive Committee (ExCom) of the Warsaw International Mechanism (WIM) for Loss and Damage took place between the 11th and 13th of September, 2024, in Bonn, Germany. Prior to ExCom 21, between the 9th and 10th of September, the 2nd meeting of all Thematic Expert Groups of the WIM ExCom also took place in Bonn.

This de-brief provides an overview of what happened at both meetings and looks forward to the third review of the WIM which will take place at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Recommendations are provided for the WIM as a whole and for its Thematic Expert Groups taking into consideration the new landscape of Loss and Damage governance that is upon us following the operationalisation of the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage and the Santiago network for Loss and Damage.
